TA Hooley, Fairville, NB. NB-06.
Examples of the Hooley quarts from Fairville, New Brunswick are very scarce. These bottles were made by the Foley Pottery of Saint Johns.
This example is near mint. Perfect lip, shoulder edge, and body. A couple of minor flakes to the base edge that are barely worth the mention. Plenty of character to this one with large patches that did not receive the cream over-glaze. Nice clear stamp.
A beautiful example of this rare bottle.
Opening Bid: $300
Estimated Range: $400-600
Sold for $300. |

McKinely & Ogilvie, Glace Bay. NS-17.
Most Cape Breton ginger beers are scarce. The McInlay & Ogilvie ones are especially so. Finding examples in good condition is very difficult.
This one is very good. Two lip flakes. The larger one is visible in the photo. A much smaller one is on the left side of the lip and it barely goes through the glaze. Otherwise this bottle is excellent. Clean glaze. Good transfer. Original unmarked stopper. Large glazed flake off the base edge.
The best example of this bottle we have sold in a very long time. A repair to the lip, should you wish, would cost next to nothing.
Opening Bid: $250
Estimated Range: $400-500
Sold for $325.

S. Fried, Glace Bay. NS-14.
The King Bottling Co bottles from S. Fried of Glace Bay are among the rarest Nova Scotia ginger beers. Most examples are puzzles assembled from pieces. This one is such an example. Reaonably well reconstructed. There are several large pieces replaced by fill and coloured with a pen. Displays well.
Mint examples are very rare and cost a fortune. Here is an opportunity to put one on the shelf for a reasonable price.
Opening Bid: $200
Estimated Range: $300-400
Sold for $325. |

London Ginger Beer Co. ON-81.
This is a lovely little ginger beer from London, Ontario that is not at all common. A relatively rare small form with square collar lip. Possibly a Canadian-made bottle. This example is near mint. A few spots of underglaze stain, but otherwise perfect. Sweet little rare bottle!
Opening Bid: $150
Estimated Range: $200-300

Estimated Range: $200-300
Sold for $150. |

Guelph Bottling Works. ON-45.
This Guelph Bottling Works bottle from George Kickley has a terrific transfer. An exceptionally rare bottle. This example is damaged but displays rather well. At the rear is a long crack that runs from the base of the lip to about an inch off the base. There are two flakes off the collar top. The larger one is visible at the front. One about half the size is at the back. A few scuff marks from burial. The glaze is remarkably clean. A decent example of a very rare bottle. You will pay a fortune should you ever want a mint one.
Opening Bid: $100
Estimated Range: $150-200
Lot not sold. |

Pair of JJ McLaughlins. ON-156, ON-158.
A nice pair of J.J. McLaughlin "Ginge Shandy" bottles. Both of these bottles have unusual attractive features. The blue top variety is the only one of its type among Ontario transfer print ginger beers. The solid cream has blue writing which is very uncommon. The blue top is in good condition. The crown top rim has been poorly replaced and the repair is relatively good. Heavy crazing and rust staining to the glaze. The solid cream is very good. Clean stain free glazing. Perfect lip. Quite a lot of base edge damage. Large chip about 1 1/4 inches long. Second smaller one about 1/4 inch. Three inch crack that runs right along the base edge between the cracks. Sounds terrible but this damage is right on the base and is hidden when the bottle is displayed.
Opening Bid: $100
Estimated Range: $150-200
Sold for $100.
