Shaw's Ginger Beer, Ottawa. Basically mint - you will likely never see a better specimen.Tiny pop mark with rust stain above S. Rich crest, full clean potter's stamp, no cracks, spiders, bruises or other imperfections. Fresh from the potter's wheel.

$550 plus shipping

Two-tone Shaw's Ottawa

This Shaw's comes out of the same collection as the bottle above. it has a very faint hairline that runs the length of the body - barely visible just under the neck curving toward the front of the bottle, and again going straight down towards the base of the bottle.

Crest is very strong, very clean. Bottle has full surface gloss, is not a dug bottle - for a "not mint" bottle, it's about as nice as you could want it to be.

A mint example sold in Auction 27 for $1,750 plus commission and taxes...well over $2,000 in total. Which makes this one a gift at less than half the price.

$750 plus shipping

M. Bourke, Brockville

A stunning mint example of the Myles Bourke bottle - never in the ground, full surface gloss, mint mint mint!!! I can't say it any better. Bottle has only changed hands once since the mid-1960's.

I watched an 8.5/10 example of this bottle change hands for $1200; this one is easily 9.8 or better. Bottles this good show up seldom, and this tiny size looks fantastic on your shelves.

J. Eves Iron Pontilled Squat Soda. Some considered this variant of the Eves squat with sans serif embossing to be the earliest variety, used by Eves when he operated in Belleville, Ontario. No question it is early. Iron pontilled. Terrific rich aqua glass. Tumbled clean. The pontil has been largely polished off. Excellent overall condition. 1/2" bruise and two small chips in the lip that were no doubt from the cork being pried out. A very rare squat in any condition.

$150 plus shipping

G. Coxon, Toronto. A very rare dated Toronto squat. These G. Coxon bottles are seldom found. Great maple leaf trademark. Dated 1868. Resin repair to base edge that is very well done and difficult to see. Heavy overall stain. A good candidate for cleaning. Rare in any condition.

H.T Smith 1867. Early soda from H.T. Smith, Toronto - dated 1867. Embossed front and back. Quite possibly an English-made bottle. Heavy glass. Good condition with some heavy wear. Tumbled clean. A nice example of an attractive dated squat.

S.V. Horne, Kingston Stone Ginger Beer Bottle. This SV Horne is one of Kingston's toughest ginger beers. Examples are very hard to find, especially in good condition. This one has a 2" hairline and a shovel mark of the same length at the rear. This damage should not be overstated. Consult the photo. Overall very good condition.perfect. The lip is flawless and the glaze is quite clean.

McLaughlin's Ginger Shandy, Edmonton. An impressively large bottle at over 10" tall. Ginger trademark. McLaughlin's ginger beer became today's Canada Dry ginger ale. Stamped front and back. Small flake off base edge and some light rust but otherwise excellent.

$75 plus shipping - conditionally SOLD

Hamilton No. 1 cork sealer. This corker style numbered Hamilton jars are extremely rare in this smallest imperial pint size. This is the same bottle that was in our Auction 26. We had it tumbled to remove some of the heavy stain. The glass is clearer but remains deeply etched by heavy harsh soil. The embossing is quite weak. The word "HAMILTON" is quite clear but the number and word "GLASSWORKS" are nearly invisible. Note we have lowered the minimum bid. The only damage to this jar apart from the etching is a tiny bruise in the lip edge 1/8". The etching certainly gives this bottle a crude look and a rough feel. These jars are very pricey when mint. Here is your chance to have one for a reasonable price.

W. Heuther, Neustadt. Huether beers from Kitchener are relatively common. This is an extremely rare example from the company's branch in Neustadt, Ontario. Machine-made clear crown going slightly amethyst. We had this bottle tumbled with mixed results. There remains a fair amount of stain. Perfect lip. Another round of tumbling, inside only, might render it clear. Couple of minor flaws to the body from burial. 1/4" bruise on the base edge at front. A very rare beer small town beer.

Walsh & Willerton, Toronto. This Walsh & Willerton soda is one of Canada's most attractive early squats. The colour is a gorgeous cornflower blue. Profusely embossed front and rear with crown trademarks and patent date 1869. A rare coloured squat that is seldom seen. Tumbled to a nice gloss. 1/2" chip off the base edge at rear. The chip has been repaired with resin. The colour match is perfect, but the fill is not perfect. Some other tiny imperfections, but otherwise excellent. You will be hard pressed to find a better example!

J. Eves Nectar Cream. This J. Eves squat is one of Canada's best. This soda has everything going for it. Great apple green coloured glass. Profusely embossed top to bottom, front and rear. Two patent dates, 1866 and 1867, making this a bonified Canada West bottle. Note the mispelling of "Creem". Near mint condition. Tumbled clean. A bit of haze remains in the upper part of the neck and the blob. Minor imperfections. Large bubble in the base edge at rear contains a 1/4" half moon crack which is barely noticeable. A terrific rare bottle in outstanding condition!

Cross & Co., Vancouver, BC.

An attractive bottle - the diamond clearly stands out on the shelf. Nice that the Munderloh agent mark is front and centre on this bottle. Original marked Cross stopper as well.

There is some lip roughness; minor flaking and nibbling. No real harm, but needed to be mentioned.

James Eves 1862 Torpedo. James Eves was one of Toronto's earliest and most successful soda makers. There are many variations of his bottles. This dated torpedo is one of the rarest. Embossed front and back. Dated 1862. Has the look and feel of a Canadian-made torpedo, but the date begs the question of where it would have been produced. Near mint. Lightly cleaned. A terrific example of a tough early bottle.

SOLD

J. Laurie Perth - variant 1.

This bottle is the "Munderloh below crest (ink)" variant. It is very near mint. I have the original stopper but some idiot spray painted the bottle gold at some point - the bottle is clean but the wire of the stopper is likely going to be gold forever. There is one tiny stopper hole flake on the right stopper hole, but the overall body is very clean and strong.

SOLD

J. Laurie Perth - variant 2.

This bottle is the "Munderloh debossed crest (stamped)" variant - it has a very different crest from the above bottle. It has a faint 6" hairline on back, as well as a pop mark - there had been aninclusion, likely a small stone, which popped off somewhere in the manufacturing process - you can see the mark on the back.

It has a very good clean crest except for the ER in GINGER - which i've seen on others of these - I'm guessing the stamp was imperfect.

SOLD

S.H. McKee 1893.

A very clean example of this bottle. It was never in the ground; has very nice exterior glaze aside from two touch marks where it clearly touched two other bottles in the kiln. Very near mint.

SOLD

Bickle's Anti-Consumptive, Hamilton. An early and gorgeous Hamilton, Ontario medicine. Smooth-base example. Early 1860s. Dead mint. Fabulous condition. Wet glass look. Heavily embossed. Very crude. This is an extremely rare bottle with very few examples known. There can be none better than this one!

SOLD

Tune Bottling Works, Stratford. This Tune Bottling Co. bottle from Stratford, Ontario is a rare bottle with an attactive monogram trademark. Cracked at the rear from just under the lip to nearly the base edge. Large chip at rear of lip that runs the full height of the lip. Chip on base edge at front. Fortunately, all this damage is hidden when the bottle is displayed. Good clean glaze. Good transfer. Marked stopper for Wilkinson Stratford.
